Equipoise (boldenone undecylenate) is historically a veterinary steroid but for some time has been available as an UGL human preparation as well.

EQ, as it is often called, can be effectively incorporated in both 'cutting' and 'bulking' cycles due to the well balanced effects of this anabolic substance. This steroid aromatizes very little, and therefore produces almost no estrogenic side effects such as water retention or 'gyno' (the development of female tissue under the nipples in males resulting in unattractive and often painful lumps in this area), and therefore is a favorite among bodybuilders who are looking to make solid gains without the extra bloat, or are nearing contest.

In the past, the principal reason for Equipoise's use was it's easy availability as a Mexican veterinary product. Presently, for the most part there is little specific reason to use Equipoise in an anabolic steroid cycle. There is nothing that it does anabolically that Masteron, Primobolan, Deca, or trenbolone will not do. In terms of side effects, likewise it has no advantage over Masteron or Primobolan, unless one desires the occasional side effect of increased appetite, or the side effect of its moderate conversion to estrogen. This can be useful if no other aromatizing steroid is being used.

Boldenone is metabolized by aromatase to estradiol, but to a lesser a degree than testosterone. It also is metabolized by the 5-AR enzyme, in this case to 17b-hydroxyandrost-1-ene-3-one, commonly but incorrectly called '1-testosterone' and sometimes called dihydroboldenone. This molecule's potency is similar to that of boldenone, so the molecule is neither potentiated or deactivated by the 5-AR enzyme and therefore that metabolism is unimportant.

Equipoise (Boldenone Undecylenate) is a structurally altered form of testosterone. It is a very slight change in an added double bond at the carbon one and two position. This double bond greatly reduces the hormone's androgenicity, as well as estrogenic nature. It is then attached to the very large or long Undecylenate ester, which is responsible for controlling the release of the hormone once administered into the body. The Undecylenate ester allows for a peak release in Boldenone approximately 3-4 days after injection, with a slow continuous release of the hormone to follow for approximately 21 days.

Due to its structural change, Equipoise only aromatizes at approximately 50% the rate of testosterone. Estrogenic side effects are possible, but the odds are highly in the individual's favor compared to testosterone. It is not as powerful of a mass builder as testosterone, not even close, but the reduced estrogenic activity should allow the individual to make cleaner gains through supplementation.
