What is Triptorelin

Most prostate cancers require hormones to grow. Almost all of the testosterone in men is produced by the testicles. A small portion is secreted by the adrenal glands above the kidneys. Triptorelin stopped the formation of the testicles. This lowers testosterone levels and may reduce the incidence of prostate cancer, and may prevent it from growing.

Triptorelin can be used alone or other types of treatment. It can be used for preoperative, postoperative or radiotherapy. It can also be used to control prostate cancer that spreads to other parts of the body (advanced or metastatic prostate cancer).

Effect of Triptorelin
Triptorelin is used to treat advanced prostate cancer in men. It is not a cure. Mosttypes of prostate cancer need the male hormone to grow and spread.
Triptorelin works by reducing the amount of that the body makes. This effect helps slow or stop the growth of cancer cells and helps relieve symptoms such as painful/difficult urination.
This medication is similar to a natural substance made by the body (luteinizing hormone releasing hormone-LHRH).
Dosage and suggestion :
Triptorelin injection comes as a powder to be mixed with sterile water and injected into the muscle of either buttock by a doctor or nurse in a medical office or clinic.
An injection of 3.75 mg of triptorelin is usually given every 4 weeks. An injection of 11.25 mg of triptorelin is usually given every 12 weeks. An injection of 22.5 mg of triptorelin is usually given every 24 weeks.
